Types of the Novel - Romangattungen
The great number
of novels produced since the creation of the genre in the 18th century can
be divided into groups or genres, according to their subject matter, form
of expression, composition, literary standard or date of origin. Most novels
belong to more than one genre. The table gives a survey of the genres and
the types of novel that exist.
